Universities across the United States have many things in common including campuses with significant outdoor areas and numerous buildings of various height, usage and construction. Most campuses are open allowing outsiders (non students, staff or employees) free access on campus yet with limited access to some buildings.

Crime on campus is a significant problem. Despite university administrators deploying millions of dollars for security, including well trained security personnel, chaperoning, safety awareness policies and seminars, the best in available technology as well as cooperation with local police. Unfortunately, crime on campus continues. The worst of these crimes are Crimes against Persons including robbery, kidnapping, and assaults including rape.

The Patent Pending MGM University PanicALERT System is designed to significantly reduce these Crimes against Persons by enhancing the university security systems already in place.

The University PanicALERT System is an active RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) system utilizing triple technology capable of covering the entire campus including the interior of all buildings as well as the outdoor areas of the campus. With the RFID infrastructure in place all a student or university employee needs to do is press a button on a small tag which can be worn on a lanyard, attached to clothing or in a pocket or pocketbook. The touch of a button instantly sends a notice to the security office alerting the officer on duty as to who needs assistance and precisely where they are located. In addition patrolling officers instantly receive the same information on their pagers and those cameras (if available) with the best view of the incident are immediately focused on the front screen in the security office.

The bottom line is that the University PanicALERT System allows the campus security personnel to immediately react to the right location. The system is so intelligent that it updates location information if the student in distress moves just 50 feet. Thus a student grabbed on campus and forced into an empty building can be located before being harmed. Additionally the University PanicALERT System contains options to help prevent date rape a growing problem on many campuses.
